Plains Midstream - Kerrobert Cavern 6 Expansion

Gas Liquids Engineering Ltd. (GLE) completed a project for Plains Midstream to expand the Kerrobert NGL Storage Facility. The Kerrobert Cavern 6 Expansion added another 32,000 m³ working storage cavern to the two current cavern’s in operation. Kerrobert Cavern 6 came online in November 2018, 6 months ahead of schedule and under budget. Project scope included:

• GLE provided project management, design (mechanical, civil, electrical, controls), HAZOP (both wash and production), procurement, regulatory assistance to Plains and Matrix Environmental, PO generation through AX, drawings and model, cost control, general invoice control and approvals, construction management and liaison, start up, programming assistance, close out.
• Built Cavern 6 Pad and roadways
• Prepared existing Wash and Disposal Systems for Cavern 6 Wash
• Drilled Cavern 6 and attached Wash Wellhead
• Designed and installed Wash mechanical piping and connections to existing infrastructure
• Designed and installed Wash E&I equipment to existing infrastructure
• Installed new and verify existing Wash programming
• Provided Wash commissioning and start up
• Washing of Cavern 6
• Designed and installed new Cavern 6 concrete pad and WH building
• Designed and installed Brine Injection System upgrades
• Designed and installed Production completion and Production WH installation/conversion
• Designed and installed Production mechanical piping, ESDV’s, meters and connections to existing infrastructure
• Designed and installed Production E&I equipment to existing infrastructure
• Installed new and verify existing Production programming
• Provided Production commissioning and start up and project close out
• Full in-house EI&C Engineering
